John Chapter 8-9 - Taught by Michelle Wein

Michelle taught today on the latter part of John chapter 8 and all of chapter 9. The one thing that really spoke to my spirit is not box God in - not in the trite sense that we normally hear, but in the sense where we tend to "shape" God to fit into our own little world. The Pharisees did that. They lived a life full of arrogance and pride, yet totally ignoring the One who could set them free from sin. The very people who claimed to know Him didn't recognize Him when he was standing in front of them! Ironic, isn't it?!?

How do we as children of God box Him in? Well, we do it in various ways. We allow certain pet sins to be OK, while ignoring the power of the Holy Spirit to banish them from our lives. We have faith for the small things, but fall to pieces when real sifting happens. We trust Him to work in our neighbor's lives, but don't allow Him to prune our very own. Oh, how we make small who He is!

Although we hear it many, many times, we need to truly get deep into our spirit the One whom we live for, the One whom lives within us. He is a big God and he is mighty to save!
